This quote is taken from the first James Bond novel, and in many films Bond plays the most elegant version of this once elite game of Baccarat on behalf of Her Majesty "Chemin de fer" - for example in "Fireball", "James Bond Pursues the Doctor". No', 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', 'On a Deadly Mission' and 'Golden Eye', Bond pursues this stirring passion.

History of Baccarat

According to the most common opinion, baccarat was invented in Naples in the 16th century, and its name comes from the word Baccara, which means "zero" in the Neapolitan dialect. According to another version, the game was named after the town of Baccarat in Lorraine. However, some card game experts believe that the game is much younger and was only created in the early 19th century in a form similar to the one we know today.

In the past, casinos mainly offered two variants: Baccarat chemin de fer and Baccara banque. Today, most casinos and online almost exclusively play the Punto Banco variant.

Basic rules

cards

Baccarat is played with six decks of French cards of 52 cards each, or 312 cards. "Real" Baccarat cards do not have index marks on the decks (eg: K, J, 10 or 7). Another feature of classic cards is the single-color reverse side.

The player tries to score 9 points or get as close as possible to 9 points and score more points than the opponent. Cards are counted as follows: Aces are worth one point, Deuces-Nines are worth two to nine points, Tens and all face cards are worth zero points. If the cards total ten points or more, only the number one counts. For example: a six and a five, then (6 5 = 11) is a period because the tens digit is removed. A six and a four, then (6 4 = 10) count as zero points or "baccarat".

How to play baccarat

As in cash poker, the casino only manages the game and enforces the rules of the game. In baccarat, participants play against each other, with the person holding the pot - the banker. In the first round, the player to the right of the dealer receives the pot. The other players - the pointers - can now place their bets up to the banker's maximum bet amount.

When all the bets are on the table, the dealer begins to deal cards from the sled: the first one is dealt to the opponent who made the biggest bet - the player, the second - to the banker, the third again to the player and the fourth again to the banker. In classic Baccarat chemin de fer, the banker places the Ponte cards on a paddle, which the croupier uses to pass the Ponte cards.

The player now checks his cards and announces if he wants to take another one. The exception is when the first two cards count 8 or 9 points, the deck immediately reveals their cards, and further cards are not taken. Also check: Online Baccarat: A Classic That Wins in the Digital Age

Then the banker opens his cards without looking at them first. If he has 8 or 9 points, then Ponte loses the right to draw another card, if he also has 8 or 9 points, the croupier immediately determines the winner: the player with the most points! If both players have the same number of points, the result of a draw is "in the cards" and the move is canceled.

However, if the banker has 7 points or less, he reveals a card that the player could have chosen. Now the banker explains whether he wants to play or not. There are a few basic rules that depend on the Ponte cards and the banker's hand.

If the banker wins, the pointer bets go to the banker and the banker has the option to continue playing as the banker. If the opponents win, they are paid 1:1 by the bank to your bet, and the player to the right of the replaced banker gets the pot.
